Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Midlevel Geologist in our Morrisville, NC area to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects in accordance with the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and other regulatory programs. This career stretch opportunity will provide project or task management and supervision of complex field tasks, including site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, and related work. To be successful in this role, you will also provide office support for data management, report preparation, and maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms.

We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.
Minimum Requirements
- BS Geology, Environmental Science, or Engineering and 6 years of experience in soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well drilling, vapor intrusion evaluation, and construction management and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain medical clearance for driving and wearing a respirator
- Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must possess a valid driver's license. Ability to travel out-of-State to complete field work. Position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina and will require overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred PG, PE, or license-track
- Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, ArcGIS, EQuIS, Python, R; are desirable.
- Geophysical instrumentation/interpretation experience
- Aquifer field testing, groundwater fate and transport modeling experience (Modflow, GMS, etc.)
- Project management experience
- Lead marketing, proposal and client development efforts
- Experienced with VOCs, metals, and petroleum contamination
- CCR Rule compliance, monitoring, and reporting
- State Solid waste compliance, monitoring, and reporting
- Statistical data analysis in support of regulatory groundwater compliance (UPLs, UCLs & LCLs, trend analyses using ProUCL)
- Karst Hydrogeology
- OSHA 40 training with current 8hr. OSHA Supervisors training.
- Good communicator, self-motivated, good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, and competent use of safe-work behaviors
- Must be able to write and convey thoughts; organize data in an efficient and clear manner; have excellent attention to detail; effectively multi-task; and desire to contribute to a dynamic team.
- Strong scheduling, team building, and budget management skills
- Project/program management experience
- Ability to work independently and concurrently on multiple projects, maintaining project continuity, progress, and project profitability
- Ability to work independently with diverse staff in office and non-office setting (i.e., outdoors, undeveloped/wooded areas, year-round, overnight travel necessary).

- Must be able to conform to AECOM employment and travel policies, including ability to obtain and hold the AECOM corporate credit card for use in making travel-related purchases.
