Lead and implement a comprehensive environmental, health and safety compliance system. Ensures health and safety regulations are followed and continuously improved upon. Leads and supervises team members within production. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Develops, implements, and evaluates the organization's safety policies and procedures. Develops strategies and recommendations to improve work conditions by reducing/eliminating physical health risks. Oversee the implementation of improvements resulting in control & reduction of incident rates and recordable injuries. Leads, coordinates and participates in EHS performance improvement initiatives. Provides expertise and acts as a resource for all Safety related activities and issues. Mentors, motivates, and evaluates Safety Steering Committee members and their activities. Responsible for creating and maintaining a proactive, engaged committee committed to continuous improvement and injury prevention. Leads incident, injury and near-miss investigations, investigations of environmental incidents, and recommends appropriate actions. Develops and delivers educational resources and training materials for safety training and new hire safety orientation training. Includes necessary safety training for in-house and contracted service personnel. Manages in-house safety training software system/database.Collaborates with Human Resources and Operations Management to identify incident injury causes, safety process inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities through the collaboration with associates, creation and analysis of statistical data, industry best practices, and legal requirements. Collaborates with Plant Management and Production Supervisors in coordination of organizational response to significant safety emergencies. Leads efforts for incident cause investigation and analysis, documentation, corrective and preventive actions. Leads the development, review and implementation of site emergency programs (e.g. evacuation drills). Functions as corporate OSHA compliance resource, performing compliance audits and providing management with recommendations and strategies. Represents the organization during on-site OSHA inspections, responding to OSHA complaints, and resolving OSHA citations through process improvement or legal challenge. Serves as the technical resource for all relevant plant and site environmental permits.Prepares, maintains and submits all records and reports required by regulatory agencies including OSHA 300 log & injury records, storm water reporting, air quality permitting, etc. Leads ongoing review of continuous improvement programs related to air, water, wastewater and hazardous waste. Procures and functions as liaison with external environmental services providers to work with individual facilities to obtain info for and complete reporting. Leads monthly metric creation and reporting of information to the safety committee and management. (E.g. TRIR, injury and incident reports, recordables, lost-time injuries, training hours, safety audit findings, etc.). Reports all safety incidents and claims to insurance carrier, monitors status of claims, proactively manages claims to minimize cost.Identifies, analyzes, communicates, and assists in coordination of facility-specific OSHA compliance efforts including OSHA 300 logs, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Blood Borne Pathogens, PPE, Fire Prevention, and Lift truck Operation. Communicates upcoming changes and new regulations that will affect the organization.A Bachelor's degree required - preferably in Safety Management, Occupational Health or a closely related field required. 30-hour voluntary OSHA compliance course recommended, or provide plans to complete. ASP/CSP (Associate Safety Professional/Certified Safety Professional) Certification is a plus. At least 5 years' experience in safety and health management in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
