Job Summary:

Reporting the Head of Biology, the In Vivo Pharmacology and Biomarker Lead will oversee in vivo pharmacology studies performed in Enanta's Biology group in support of multiple small molecule discovery programs in Liver Disease and Virology. The Principal Scientist will be expected to work closely with a cross-functional team to deliver comprehensive in vivo data packages for small molecule drug candidates, including mechanism of action, PK/PD, and efficacy studies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific leadership for the design, execution, and data analysis for in vivo pharmacology studies at Enanta.
  • Accountable for identifying, developing, and implementing new in vivo models to support Enanta's portfolio needs via internal and external means.
  • Manage a small team of internal scientists and develop close working relationships with a network of CROs and academic labs to deliver high-quality in vivo pharmacology data. Perform diligence on external collaborators to ensure the quality and best practices.
  • Support the identification, preclinical validation, and clinical deployment of target engagement and mechanistic biomarkers.
  • Provide leadership and hands-on mentoring to further develop Enanta's internal in vivo capability.
  • Develop comprehensive study protocols for peer review and work in a collaborative manner to conduct in vivo studies.
  • Independently communicate results to cross-functional project teams and update senior management on overall project strategy and goals.
  • Prepare study reports for both internal discussions with stakeholders and regulatory submissions.
  • Generate and be accountable for the necessary Animal Use Protocols that ensures Biology team members comply with all regulatory requirements and internal policies. Actively participate in Enanta's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
  • Build Enanta's external reputation through scientific publications and presentations at relevant conferences.
