Environmental Health Science Information Specialist
To support ICF International's dynamic growth and expanding client base, we are seeking an Information Specialist to work in our Health Science Practice. This group of 70+ science professionals provides epidemiology, toxicology, hazard assessment, risk assessment, exposure assessment, environmental modeling, and related support that addresses the full spectrum of potentially hazardous agents, including chemicals and microbes. We specialize in identifying and quantifying the effects of environmental pollutants, such as metals, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds, on human health and the environment.
The Information Science Specialist's project work would support the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and other public and private clients in conducting research. The candidate would work on multiple projects concurrently and assume an active role on project teams to design and perform scientific literature searches utilizing a variety of health information resources.
This position will be located in Durham, NC or Fairfax, VA. Safety of our employees are our top priority, due to current COVID-19 safety measures, employees who can work from home are required to do so. Once it is safe to resume standard practices of commuter travel and social interaction per government guidelines, we expect employees to maintain an office presence as required by projects needs and management leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and documenting comprehensive and/or strategic literature search strategies.
- Developing and applying innovative literature search approaches using text analytics.
- Performing searches in PubMed, Web of Science, TOXNET and other electronic and online scientific information resources.
- Organizing search results using EndNote and/or Reference Manager software.
- Using in-house data management software to aid in review of search results.
- Assisting with literature retrieval efforts and reconciling invoices.
Requirements:
- A Master's degree in Public Health, Information Science, or a related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience; science undergraduate degree preferred.
- Familiarity with scientific terminology, specifically related to the fields of medicine, toxicology, biology, environmental health, and public health.
- Knowledge of and experience with online database services such as PubMed, Web of Science, STN, ProQuest Dialog, SCOPUS.
- Experience with reference management software, especially EndNote.
- Knowledge of and experience with systematic reviews preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience using text analytics in combination with traditional keyword searches preferred.
