Job Description

TeamBuilders is hiring for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to join a local food processing company in Fresno, CA.

The EH&S Manager is responsible for the development, leadership and sustainability of the safety and environmental initiatives throughout to the organization to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees.

The EH&S Manager will focus to consciously reduce and eliminate hazards or risks to the workforce and environment by assuring compliance with company, state and federal regulations. The EH&S Manager will lead a team of safety individuals and will work closely with other department managers, supervisors and front-line employees to find and eliminate hazards.

Company is open to recent graduates with a BS Degree in EH&S and at least 3 years' work experience within a food processing facility.

The Essential Duties of the EH&S Manager:
  • Performs work in accordance with all quality systems requirements included in SQF including Food Safety, Food Defense, HACCP, and GMP's as well as meets all company corporate requirements related to quality and food safety programs
  • Build positive and productive relationships focused on growing a Safety culture with all levels of staff
  • Daily physical plant inspections for compliance in PPE, unsatisfactory work conditions and proactively looking for safety non-conformances
  • Educate and develop a culture that encourages Near-Miss submittals, incident reporting and ensures a timely and appropriate response to reports
  • Develop and administer training for workers on a monthly and annual basis
  • Administers initiatives to remain safe and compliant for refrigeration programs, including RMP and PSM programs
  • Lead key initiatives, including HazMat program and team
  • Compile all data related to EPA reporting and ensure all reports are submitted in a timely manner
  • Performs accident investigations to determine immediate cause as well as root cause; implements changes to correct and prevent reoccurrence
  • Develop and create job safety work instructions for Operational Safe-Work Practices
  • Analyze risks, trends and countermeasures to internal and external risk
  • Identify and implement tools, methods and indicators to support and measure compliance with policies and progress to objectives
  • Perform regulatory assessments and audits of facilities and makes recommendations for improvements
  • Prepares employees by developing and conducting safety training programs; coaching employees
  • Assures safety equipment is functioning by inspecting and testing equipment and alarms
  • Research and development of policies, update existing policies and creating procedures and guidelines to improve safety and environmental performance
  • Recommends improvement procedures by investigating accidents
  • Maintains OSHA 300 Log; updates and maintains on-line incident tracker


Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications of the EH&S Manager:
  • BS Degree in Environmental Health & Safety required
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience within a food production facility, preferably as an EH&S Manager
  • SQF, HACCP and Food Safety experience required
  • Strong analytical, mathematical and detail orientation skills
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Professional communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Impeccable reporting and documentation skills
