The Computational Biology Group is an integral component of Biological Sciences Division and works closely with other Biological Sciences Division research groups, as well as groups in the areas of applied mathematics, computer science, and statistics.
We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist in the Division, who will join a talented, multi-investigator team to lead projects involving computational small molecule identification applications, relying on machine learning (including AI and deep learning), quantum chemical calculations, cheminformatics, advanced statistical methods, and other computational methods, and bringing these together for national security, human health, environmental exposure, and chemical forensics fields. Additional applications will likely include molecular design, biomolecular function determination, and advanced 'omics data interpretation. Applicants will help create a vision and deliver projects to accelerate our team's goal of reducing reliance on authentic reference material for the purpose of small molecule identification in complex samples. Responsibilities include:
- Serve as an intellectual lead through development of research proposals and providing guidance on the state-of-the-art approaches, all while considering necessary future directions that keep PNNL a leader in these fields long term.
- Bring in external funding to expand the breadth of scientific reach at PNNL, which includes being the PI and task lead on proposals, oversee
