Microbiology Coordinator- South Chesterfield, VA

Do you love science and food? Our client is looking for a Micro Laboratory Coordinator to perform pathogen indicator testing and other microbiological testing on manufactured products, purchased products, and environmental samples in a timely and accurate manner. As part of a broader Quality Control team, the ideal person will ensure that our products and our production environment are the highest quality and safe for all our employees, customers, and consumers.

*Dip into This Role*

* Manages the Environmental program, including swabbing of environmental sites, investigative sites, and reporting out findings.

* Oversee and present the environmental program information to third party audits.

* Performs a regular site microbiological assessment, which covers current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and other associated prerequisite programs, cleaning and sanitization, environmental monitoring, finished product testing & release, and corrective and preventive actions.

* Assists in the definition and execution of the appropriate validation protocols defined in the sites validation plan to prove the effectiveness of the cleaning and sanitization procedures.

* Prepares composite product samples for internal and external labs, and coordinates delivery to labs.

* Ensures water portability testing is performed according to facility-defined standards.

* Performs required micro testing types, including petrifilm plates, gels, air sampler, use of blocks, etc., and writes SOPs for laboratory standards.

* Manage in house testing program and their technologies, and software.

* Performs allergen validation testing.

* Provides accurate testing and test results for product disposition and guarantees accuracy of lab test equipment.

*Recipe for Success*

* 4-year degree in Microbiology or related subject strongly preferred

* Knowledge of FDA GMP's

* Understanding of HACCP principles

* Familiarity with modern food manufacturing processes and food safety systems

* Experience with 3rd party food safety audits

* Testing experience within a laboratory

* Ability to work cross-functionally and influence others

* Excellent and detailed analysis and communication skills
