The RGC Biology group is looking for a Ph.D. level Scientist to join our team to study the biology of new human gene variants discovered at RGC associated with changes in metabolism and its related disorders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, execution and analysis of in vitro and in vivo experiments using a wide spectrum of experimental techniques in order to formulate corresponding therapeutic hypotheses and contribute towards the advancement of Regeneron's drug target pipeline. Candidates should preferably have multidisciplinary expertise, with a special emphasis in the area of molecular and cellular biology, cell and systems metabolism, immunometabolism, in vivo mouse modeling and gene editing. The candidate will collaborate closely within the RGC biology group and other RGC teams as well as across the organization to coordinate activities and collaborations.
A typical day may include:
- Implement experimental approaches in human and/or mouse cell-based systems for molecular and functional characterization of new genetic variants related to metabolic and immune dysfunction
- Explore novel technologies, as needed
- Design and conduct experiments and provide advanced data analysis under minimal supervision
- Design, plan, and independently perform in vivo experiments by using mouse models to dissect complex molecular phenotypes associated with human genetic findings in metabolism, immunity and related disorders
- Perform flow cytometry analysis on human and murine cells and tissues
- Data analysis from RNASeq, scRNASeq and other omics using standard analysis packages available online
- Document experimental procedures and results in a well-organized fashion; generate experimental reports
- Analyze results across experiments and projects, formulate therapeutic hypotheses and communicate findings and ideas via presentations in group and senior management meetings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the company to support the drug development pipeline
This role may be for you if:
- You enjoy and are passionate about bench science
- You possess problem-solving abilities and are result-driven
- You excel in a dynamic, collaborative environment managing charge of multiple projects
- Keep abreast with the relevant literature in the field of interest
To be considered for this role, you must have a PhD and 2+ years post-doctoral or industry experience. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in cellular and molecular biology, cell or systems metabolism, immunology, or related field. Experience with cell culture (both primary cells and established cell lines), and the execution of a variety of in vitro/ex vivo cell-based assays is essential. Additional experience in omics data analysis is desired. Documented strong scientific record, excellent communication and presentation skills.
