JOB SUMMARY
Job Profile Summary
Provides technical environmental compliance services to one or more operating facilities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Understands environmental and health and safety regulations and performs work compliant with applicable regulations for all field work
- Oversees contract personnel that perform environmental compliance work to ensure they provide quality work in a timely manner. Makes selection decisions regarding contract personnel and provides feedback to contractor management regarding work performance
- Compiles environmental data and calculates estimated emissions by applying environmental science principles
- Monitors, coordinates support of and responds to spills, releases and emergencies related to the spill or release of materials within plant and field operating areas. Coordinates activities related to initial response to a spill or release (including regulatory notifications where applicable) through the clean-up phase
- Interfaces with management, employees, customers, contractors and regulatory agencies regarding technical matters related to all phases of spill or releases and cleanup operations
- Collects environmental samples and prepares samples for laboratory shipment. Reviews laboratory reports to determine appropriate waste characterizations. Facilitates waste shipments
- Assesses water pollutants by collecting and analyzing water samples from process water and industrial waste water
- Maintains environmental records and assists in preparing regulatory and corporate reports
- Conducts site inspections related to SWPPP, SPCC, RCRA and other regulatory or corporate requirements. Prepares inspection reports
- Communicates and trains site personnel and contractors on regulatory requirements
- Operates analysis equipment, such as pH meters, chemical analyzers, and air emissions monitoring equipment
- Operates a fork lift or man-lift as needed
- Orders environmental supplies
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintains a good reputation of the organization by complying with legal and corporate requirements
- Keeps up professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
Education
- Associate's Degree in environmental, natural science, or engineering-related field with previous experience in environmental compliance, or an equivalent combination of formal education plus the following job related experience:

- Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
