The individual will be part of a drug discovery team with a mission of bringing novel therapeutics, and of addressing neuroimmune dysregulation of CNS diseases. This position is geared towards recruiting a neuroimmunologist with training in complement biology and synaptic pruning. She/he will seek to better understand the role of complement pathway dysregulation in neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders. This is a hands-on position in the laboratory and the candidate must be comfortable working in the laboratory and should be proficient with multicolor flow cytometry, immune cell culture, analysis of immune cells in CNS. The candidate must demonstrate scientific curiosity and innovation, an ability to work collaboratively and in a multi-disciplinary environment and be self-driven to take on challenging projects.

Qualifications
  • PhD in Immunology, neuroimmunology or related discipline is required. Non-immunology degree will be considered if suitable experience in complement biology can be established.
  • 2+ years of post-doctoral experience and high-impact publication(s) in complement biology is required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate proven research experience in studying CNS complement proteins, and/or the effect of complement pathways on synaptic pruning in the context of CNS disorders. Pre/postdoctoral research in complement activation pathways in the context of diseases is a critical skill set for the position.
  • Prior experience in establishing complement assays to assess the function of the classical, the alternative and the lectin pathways of the complement system is required for the role.
  • Prior experience working on complement cascade in microglia is a definite plus; direct laboratory experience in model systems of synaptic pruning is a definite advantage.
  • Expertise in protein science is desirable; contribute to complement biomarker studies.
  • Must be self-driven, focused and determined to bring new medicines for patients suffering from neuroimmune disorders.
  • Research experience in demyelinating diseases, Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia is nice to have.
  • This is a hands-on position in the laboratory and the candidate must be comfortable working in the laboratory and should be proficient with multicolor flow cytometry, immune cell culture, analysis of immune cells in CNS compartments and cell isolation techniques (sorting is a definite plus).
  • In-vivo skills such as familiarity with injection routes (oral gavage, i.p., s.c., tail vein) and experience in aseptic surgical techniques are not required, but nice to have skills, for the position.
  • Motivated to learn new techniques at a fast pace, be innovate & scientifically curious, and comfortable driving drug discovery projects.
  • Must thrive in a team environment and contribute to the discovery of new medicines for patients suffering from disorders of the neuroimmune system.
