RSI EnTech (RSI) is actively seeking a talented and experienced Environmental Scientist to support the ETTP closure project. Candidate should have knowledge of and experience with the environmental cleanup process under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), including the data quality objectives process, design of field investigations, data evaluation, and preparation of work plans to support remedial investigation/feasibility study reports. Technical background related to evaluation of environmental impacts to surface water, sediment and ecological habitats preferred, including impacts from radiological contaminants. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary; job entails organizing and working with large diverse groups including EPA, DOE and TDEC. Experience managing environmental work in the Department of Energy work environment, including cost tracking and earned value management, is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a team environment to help implement the steps of the CERCLA cleanup process, including sampling plans, remedial investigations/feasibility studies, and final decision documents for various environmental media (groundwater, surface water, sediment. and biota).
  • Perform field visits to hazardous and radiological waste sites.
  • Perform analysis of sample data, to show spatial and temporal patterns.
  • Prepare materials for interactions with various stakeholders, including the customer, regulators, and the general public.


Qualifications
  • Must have at a minimum a Bachelor's Degree in related earth science/environmental science/engineering field from an accredited school or equivalent, with a preferred 7-12 years of experience in the responsibilities detailed
  • Experience in planning and managing environmental studies is preferred
  • Background in analytical methods and associated detected levels
  • Experience and knowledge of the Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR) and the Department of Energy (DOE) is preferred but not required
  • Able to complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training
  • Proven ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the CERCLA cleanup process preferred
  • Ability to obtain a Q clearance
  • Self-motivated, requires limited direction


Education

B.S. required, M.S. preferred. Environmental Scientist with a degree in hydrology, geology, biology, chemistry, environmental studies or related field. 7 12 years of experience preferred.
