Days and hours of position: Tuesday 7:00am-12:00pm. Wednesday 12:00pm-10:30pm. Friday 7:00am-12:00pm.
Specific Skills/Aptitudes: Some biology or science background, ability to multitask & understanding of universal precaution & bloodbourne pathogens.
Essential Duties and Functions: Student will be working with supervisor preparing labs which range from Medical Laboratory Technology, Biology & Microbiology. Help inventory materials & chemicals in the prep. Room. Students will also prepare media for bacterial growth, maintain the integrity of cadavers for A&P classes & work closely with other student employees to maintain biology equipment, models and supplies. Student will work with biohazard supplies and will sanitize and sterilize equipment & biohazard waste. Student will on occasion lift materials or equipment heavier than 40 pounds. Students will work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals with laboratory safety a priority. Student will also work with live and preserved specimens for biology classes.
