Toeroek Associates is currently seeking a junior level Environmental Research Analyst for the Denver, Colorado area.

Summary

The analyst will work as part of a team to assist EPA and other government agencies with administering environmental regulatory compliance and enforcement programs. The analyst will work on multiple contracts, researching and compiling evidence to characterize contamination and identify potentially responsible parties (PRPs) at hazardous waste sites. Superior research, writing and analytical skills are essential to this position, as is an interest in helping government agencies enforce their environmental regulations.

Duties include
  • Assist in identifying sources of information about PRP operations, including federal, state and local agencies, public libraries, private archives, and map and aerial photography archives
  • Conduct research online and of local document collections to obtain documents pertinent to PRP historical operations and waste disposal practices, as well as environmental regulatory compliance
  • Review information on PRP operations, including responses to EPA information requests, facility inspection reports, sampling and investigation reports, hazardous materials inventories and other documents collected, and identify relevant data for purposes of analyzing Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) liability
  • Draft evidence summary reports that discuss and present information about PRP operations, chemical usage, disposal practices, and soil and groundwater sampling data
  • Review laboratory sampling data results for purposes of extracting and summarizing relevant data from sampling and investigation reports
  • Review real property title documents, and prepare title reports and tables showing chain of title
  • Conduct corporate research and identify corporate successors (training will be provided)
  • Create and manage databases

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience desirable

Requirements
  • Locality requirement in the Denver, CO metro area in support of regional operations
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Detailed, critical and thoughtful writing and analysis skills
  • Knowledge of or experience in environmental information collection, analysis, interpretation and report preparation
  • Ability to function as a member of a team and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines and to adapt quickly and smoothly to changing project requirements
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications
  • Ability to use software to retrieve, evaluate, and organize information and documents
  • Completion of 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training and current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training is a plus

Target salary hiring range is position is $42,000 to $47,000 annually, DOQ. This good faith and reasonable estimate of the base compensation at the time of posting.
