AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Scientist for employment in the Conshohocken, PA office. This entry-level position is a fantastic opportunity to further your understanding of the industry and advance your career by gaining valuable work experience within an established and successful consultancy. You will be part of an experienced team with leaders who will guide and mentor you through working on active projects.

This position is expected to begin in June 2021.

About DCSA-Environment

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM's global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals - to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Work on a team are involved in field surveys including preliminary site characterizations, wetland delineations, ecological appraisals, habitat and botanical surveys, ecological impact assessments, protected species surveys, and other site investigation actions.
  • Aid projects and help to develop their individual field and office roles by demonstrating good organization and planning skills, the ability to work with teams and/or independently, provide clear communications, and maintain awareness that will support a team which works safely and maintains high technical standards.
  • Data management, mapping, and reporting.
  • Periodically, such work requires extended hours, working remotely, night work, and/or over-night travel away from home.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field
  • Familiarity with plant identification methods and basic skills
  • Experience with wetland delineations, stream assessments, and/or other field skills
  • Previous exposure to protected species surveys
  • Working knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and an understanding of the relevant planning systems
  • Experienced with use of spreadsheet development, word processing, and standard office software
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Wetland delineation training
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour training
  • ArcGIS and/or CAD skills
  • Boat operation with USCG Safety Training and trailering experience
  • Work over water experience including sediment and surface water sampling
  • Fisheries experience including electrofishing, trawls, seining
  • Keen interest in applied environmental sciences
  • Ability to record data accurately, efficiently, and methodically
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Client-focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach
  • Hard working and highly motivated
  • Commitment to continued education and improvement
