Position Overview
The position for a Scientific Researcher is employed by Terminix in collaboration with the USDA National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC). The position will be based in Fort Collins, CO. The position is under the toxicology research group at NWRC which is responsible for developing and testing novel toxicants to control vertebrate pest wildlife species to reduce human/wildlife conflict and protect agriculture. The NWRC Principle Investigator will coordinate and oversee research activities. Research will include laboratory studies on efficacy and timeline of effects, off-target effects, and possible immune activation. Further studies using animal models will be done to determine - in-vivo efficacy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory evaluations of interfering RNA including through the use of cell culture and other in-vitro techniques
  • Research is complex and involves using novel research methods and new technologies.Creative thinking will be necessary to solve complex problems and develop new methods to answer questions.
  • Publishes research findings in peer-reviewed literature.
  • Summarizes research findings for internal documents and presentation.
  • Mentors junior scientists.
  • Maintains laboratory records and supplies including ordering.
Job Requirements
  • Ph.D. degree in a pertinent biology, pharmacology, toxicology, or physiology field
  • Strong publication record
  • Demonstrated excellence in independent laboratory research specifically in the development and testing of interfering RNA
  • Demonstrated use of bioinformatics, cell culture, and other in-vitro methods as related to RNAi research
  • Membership in relevant scientific societies

• Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.

• Fingering and Repetitive motions; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.

• Express or exchange ideas with others through the use of spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discriminations in the nature of sounds in the environment.

Incumbent is required to have:

• Close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm's reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.

Incumbent will be subject to:

• Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
