Description
Summary:
To meet the expanding needs of our company, Seattle Genetics is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with exceptional scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and self-motivation to join the Cancer Biology Group. Our company culture places a premium on scientific excellence, innovation, and teamwork in order to develop novel antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Thus, the candidate should possess a strong cell biology or immunology background with excellent interpersonal skills, clear communication, accountability, and self-motivation. The position title and compensation package are flexible and will be determined based on the qualifications and experience level of the candidate.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to the design of mechanistic studies to better understand antibody-drug conjugates
Perform and execute rigorous tissue culture of primary and immortalized cells using sterile techniques
Develop co-culture approaches to create new in vitro models and design high-throughput strategies with these models for ADC evaluations
Perform rigorous biochemical and functional characterization of novel targets in the context of the tumor microenvironment
Compile and analyze data, keep accurate records of experiments and results
Communicate with key stake holders
Read scientific literature, provide updates and present data in team and group meetings.
The position requires flexibility to learn, establish and execute novel techniques/approaches for ADC characterization

Qualifications:
BS or MS with +5 years of experience in the Academic/biotech/pharmaceutical industry
Expertise in cell biology, biochemistry, or immunology is preferred
Experience in applying mechanistic studies to elucidate signal transduction, biochemical, immunological or transcriptional pathways
Outstanding tissue culture skills and primary tissue manipulation
Experience in co-culture of tumor and immune cells, genomic/multiparametric flow cytometry-based cell profiling, recombinant DNA technologies, lentiviral transduction and gene editing technologies is preferred
Familiarity with antibody-based therapies or in vivo pre-clinical studies is desired but not necessary
Ability to work both in a team-based environment and independently with outstanding problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with automation, high throughput screening, basic bioinformatics is a plus
