ERM is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Environmental Engineer, Environmental Scientist, or Geologist - Associate level to join our growing team in Anchorage Alaska. We are seeking professional candidates with initiative, positive team attitude, and creativity. The successful candidate will support interesting site investigation and remediation projects throughout Alaska and other locations in North America. You may also work on a variety of projects covering the full spectrum of ERM's services including: air quality and climate change, EHS management and compliance, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, and capital project delivery. This is a great opportunity to work with a global environmental leader in an exciting industry! This is a contract to fulltime position for 6 months with possible renewal.

Working with ERM's technical experts, the successful candidate will help implement the latest engineering and technical approaches to provide innovative solutions to client challenges while building the experience required to obtain your professional registration and expand your career.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work safely.
  • Apply academic knowledge and technical training to address environmental concerns.
  • Prepare work plans and reports for a variety of environmental projects to assess and remediate contaminated soil, water, and air.
  • Conduct field work, including sample collection, drilling, well installation, remedial pilot test implementation, construction oversight, and remedial system operation and maintenance.
  • Assist in groundwater monitoring and treatment system performance monitoring.
  • Compile and evaluate technical data and assist in report preparation.
  • Prepare environmental compliance plans, permits, and reports for air quality; spill prevention; and hazardous waste, storm water, and wastewater management.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Complete assignments within quality, budget, and schedule expectations.
  • Communicate with ERM management, the project team, subcontractors, regulatory agents, and clients during field activities.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Dependability, integrity, respect, positive outlook, and customer focus.
  • Ability to work as a team player at remote sites in Alaska given harsh weather conditions.
  • BS in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology or a related degree. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • 3+ years of experience, including willingness/interest in field assignments.
  • Strong commitment to safety; ability to follow established health and safety protocols.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; organizational and analytical skills; experience recording technical data and preparing reports.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to succeed in a consulting environment, simultaneously handling multiple project assignments and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Local candidates preferred.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training is a plus, but will be offered to the right candidate.
