Job Description:
Terracon is growing and seeking to hire an Environmental Professional in our Manchester, NH or Rocky Hill, CT offices.
We work on exciting projects including commercial, transportation, energy and federal projects throughout New England and New York state. This position for a 3-plus year experienced professional who will be responsible for assisting in the planning, scheduling and execution of various environmental services assignments on projects varying in size and complexity. The successful candidate will be eager to learn and grow into all phases of environmental consultation including site assessments, investigations, remediation, asbestos/lead base paint evaluations, cultural resource and have leadership and management aspirations.

General Responsibilities:
Conducts work in support of and prepares Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM Standard E1527, Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments. Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment Process to identify recognized environmental conditions and other conditions of environmental concern for a project and related off-site properties in accordance with ASTM; client specific standards, including Agency. May coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for the completion for Phase II subsurface investigations, if needed.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Complete Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), environmental compliance and related projects, and/or oversight of Phase II subsurface investigations to identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) and other adverse environmental conditions as outlined in the scope of work.
  • Reviews previous assessment reports, historical and regulatory records for the property and for the surrounding area and reports data in accordance with ASTM criteria and/or client's scope of work..
  • Conducts interviews with appropriate project stakeholders and government officials to obtain information concerning the environmental conditions related to the property and adjacent properties..
  • Performs screenings and survey's for the presence of hazardous building materials (asbestos, lead, radon, etc.) and subsurface contamination. Screenings may include collection of samples. .
  • Writes reports which accurately convey the environmental assessment and provide exhibits and photos which illustrate or clarify information presented in the body of the report.
  • Obtains site access, public and private utility clearance, coordinates with various project stakeholders, and schedules drillers, laboratories, and other subcontractors for Phase II or Industrial Hygiene work.
  • Completes online and field research related to historic preservation, endangered species, wetlands, floodplains, etc.
  • May engage subcontractors/vendors for Phase II subsurface investigations, if necessary. Includes developing scope of work, acquiring bids, selecting vendor and ensuring results are included in final report to client.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participants in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related science field; 3 years related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
