Job Title: Director, Environmental Health Services
Reports to: General Manager
Location: St. Petersburg, FL
Position Summary:
The Environmental, Health and Safety Director is responsible to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations following Catalent Pharma Solutions' guidelines to guarantee the safety of all employees, visitors and contractors in the facility.
The Role
- Supervise an Environmental Engineer, an EHS Specialist, an Occupational Nurse and Security contractors.
- Maintain the accident records and files necessary to ensure compliance OSHA requirement. Evaluate cases to identify trends and to decrease the accident rate using safety assessments, industrial hygiene sampling and following OSHA regulations and Catalent Guidelines.
- In charge of the Hazard Communication program including the SDS database and related requirements.
- Manage the Workers Compensation program, monitor treatment for appropriateness, monitor fees, track injuries, and provide metrics to management.
- Be the liaison between the site and the environmental and safety agencies.
- Coordinate or provide specialized training classes pertaining to safety and/or environmental related subjects to various personnel within the company. Educate plant personnel on Environmental, Health, Safety and Security topics.
- Assist and guide internal and external customers in Safety, Health, Environment and Security issues, including special projects, new products, and complaints or concerns.
- Conduct necessary assessments, inventories and inspections for various environmental and safety regulations (Risk Assessments, Accident Investigations, Hazard Control and Prevention Reports, Tracking and verification of corrective actions, and audits to the Environmental, Health and Safety programs).
Education & Experience
- Bachelors Degree (B.S.) required in Engineering, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or similar science background.
- Requires 15 - 20 years related experience in an industrial setting, preferably pharmaceutical.
- Experience with potent compounds a must.
The Candidate
- Must complete projects with minimum or no supervision and have good interpersonal skills and leadership characteristics.
- Ability to perform and review engineering calculations, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, logarithms, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Can read and interpret technical publications such as the Code of Federal Regulation and National Fire Code.
