Consultant, (senior) data analyst, Disease Stratification, Translational Bioinformatics

Job Description

We seek a talented, collaborative inter-disciplinary computational scientist to work on the analysis, statistical modeling and generation of hypotheses from high-dimensional tissue, cell and molecular profiling data. This individual will play a key scientific role leveraging innovative computational analysis strategies and rich patient data to empower data-driven decisions in collaboration with BMSs Translational Development organization.

Analysis scenarios will involve exploratory clinical data and output from transcriptomic, proteomic, genomic, and a wide range of innovative cell-molecular profiling platforms including single-cell assays. Focus for the role will involve translating insights from patient data to model systems including cell lines. Applications range from providing deep insight into tumor progression, subtypes and genetics to deriving therapeutic mechanisms of action for existing and novel therapies as they transition into clinic.

The position would suit an individual with strong computational capabilities and excellent communication and collaboration skills. Applications are encouraged from those involved in innovative translational biomarker research for oncology indications in clinical or industrial research environments. The role offers the opportunity to impact directly the delivery of truly transformational and life-changing therapies in key diseases of unmet medical need.

Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of BMS senior analysts, define and execute data analysis plan for large scale multivariate datasets to support disease stratification and precision medicine.
  • Perform analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (e.g., RNA-seq, Exome and Whole Genome Sequencing) and derive clinically and biologically meaningful interpretations.
  • Implement quality controls and benchmarking applied to novel NGS workflows to deliver high quality production tools.
  • Summarize analysis results and write analysis report.
  • Evaluate and adapt latest scientific findings and methods into bioinformatics analysis plans.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or M.S. with 3+ years of experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics or related fields. Experiences in biotech or pharmaceutical industries is a plus.
  • Strong experience using R for complex data analysis is required. Experiences with other high-level programming language such as Python is a plus.
  • Experiences with reproducible research practices, including GitHub, is required.
  • Experiences working with Next Generation Sequencing datasets, including Whole-Genome, Whole-Exome Sequencing and RNA-seq, is required.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing environments (RCE, Docker, AWS) is highly desired.
  • Expertise in application of modern machine-learning/AI approaches is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of disease biology in oncology is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to handle several concurrent, fast-paced projects while conforming with rigorous requirements of clinical studies.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, and rigorous and creative thinking.
  • Excellent communication, data presentation, and visualization skills.

Thanks and Regards
