Description
As an Environmental, Health, and/or Safety (EHS) Manager at Caterpillar, you will provide leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried and management personnel engaged in EHS activities related to a facility's programs and plans. The EHS Manager develops, plans, directs, and implements organization safety and environmental programs to comply with applicable OSHA, EPA, State and Local regulatory requirements.
Job Duties
Direct and lead a team of EH&S Professionals
The incumbent will coach and facilitate the development of the work group in collaborative relationships among themselves, suppliers, other cross functional groups, and internal customers to ensure goals are achieved.
Incumbent needs a breadth of knowledge and experience including EHS regulations, programs and policies and will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds.
This role requires that the incumbent increases understanding of processes and the related environmental, health and safety issues that need addressed.
Develops, directs and carries out the implementation of programs to assure management takes the actions needed to raise employee awareness of risks and to reduce, avoid, and protect employees from hazards in the workplace, including occupational illness or disease, permits and programs that are required for protection of the environment.
Develops, directs, and carries out programs to maintain and improve the general health of employees and/or environmental plans and programs.
Identifies common and more complex safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organizations operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.
Investigates and implements new pollution control technologies.
Prepares and deliveries presentations for training and communications at the facility, BU, and Corporate level as required.
Investigates and establishes standards for protective equipment.
Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions and alerts line management to problems.
Generating and/or reviewing of reports for environmental (EPA) and safety (OSHA) agencies.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or safety related science.
Minimum of 4 years' experience in EHS or related experience.
Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in safety and environmental management
Top Candidates will also have
In-depth knowledge of OSHA and safety regulations
Knowledge of Title V and other air quality requirements
Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
