This is an exciting time to join our Carlisle manufacturing site in a high-profile role! As a site leadership team member instrumental in the development of the Health Safety Environmental and Security strategy you will have the opportunity to work collectively with Leadership team members, Team Managers and Operators at the site.

What will this role achieve?

You will be required to provide advice and support by;
  • Implementing pladis Central HSES policies and procedures and drive continuous improvement of the site standards and systems.
  • Manage the site's HSES systems and internal audit programmes
  • Support the site in managing accident, issue and incident prevention and investigations, and in delivering compliance to all legal, pladis and other relevant external standards.

What will be your key results?
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise in Health, Safety, Security and Environment matters in order to provide the HSE Lead and the site with appropriate information and support.
  • Responsible for driving and delivering continuous improvement in all aspects of the management systems and standards, in line with the group's systems and policies.
  • Provide managers and employees with information on legislative and Corporate compliance, recommend ways of meeting statutory requirements and Corporate HSES Policies, HSE recommendations and codes of practice.
  • Lead and coordinate site investigations, in the review of significant accidents, incidents, complaints and pollution events, and the identification of solutions to prevent recurrence. Drive close out of issues and non-conformance.
  • Support the Crisis Incident Management (CIM) process for HSES issues by carrying out formal risk assessments and reports into Green Team.
  • Take an active part in the site HSE committee by driving the HSE agenda for the site; address issues and determine the site requirements for improvements.
  • Audit, supervise and review the implementation of Health and Safety policies, working practices, safety procedures and standards for all respective operations as instructed by the Compliance Manager and Central Compliance team. Manage and lead all site audits in conjunction with the Central Audit Team and accompanies auditors on site.
  • Represents the site for regulatory health, safety & environmental authorities. (The HSE, EA and SEPA in Scotland). Collaborate with regulatory authorities and insurers on key matters such as fire risk assessment and certification, RIDDOR reporting, emergency planning and safety improvement plans.
  • Maintain close liaison with Occupational Health (EHW) to ensure H & S provisions are met and understood.
  • As a member of the Leadership team and provide effective leadership and co-ordination of the HSE resources within the site to ensure they are prepared to manage all relevant compliance issues and challenges.

What do you need for this role?

Crucial
  • NEBOSH Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma Part 1 or equivalent, TECH SP Membership of IOSH
  • Significant experience in a Health & Safety role and in a manufacturing environment and a sound knowledge of Health & Safety Law and its application

Preferred
  • Membership of IOSH or greater (e.g. CMIOSH)
  • Environmental Qualification (e.g. NEBOSH) or NEBOSH Diploma Part 2
  • Diploma in Environmental Management or IEMA Certificate / Diploma, Membership of IEMA
  • Degree in relevant Health & Safety or Environmental subject
