Overview
WuXi AppTec is a leading global pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and medical device open-access capability and technology platform with global operations. We're seeking a Assistant Director for our In-Vitro Biology group located in Cranbury, NJ.

Responsibilities

Split ~50%:50% between hands-on LC-MS operations and Client Facing tasks:

LC-MS Operations:

Has expert skills in the following areas:
Quantitative workflow development and/or proteomics technology development (LC-MS; ideally on TSQ Altis QQQ, and/or ABSciex 6600+ Triple TOF, Orbitraps)
Sample preparation from tissues, cells, and biofluids as needed to enable quantitative workflows for drug discovery programs
Day-day maintenance of UPLC/Mass spec for routine operations
PTM analysis (e.g. phosphorylation, ubiquitination, covalent binding of small-molecules) and targeted proteomics
Software analysis packages such as MaxQuant, Skyline, Tracefinder, Protein Pilot, Proteome Discoverer etc.
Expert skills in any of the following areas is a plus:
Biochemical assays including determination of steady-state kinetic parameters and elucidation of inhibitor/binder mechanism of action.
Experience with high-throughput screening (HTS) and small-molecule drug discovery
Client Interactions:

Actively contributes to ongoing and future collaborations with multiple partners in the design, development and execution of novel in vitro biology assays to support drug discovery projects
Responsible for the preparation of project proposals
Communicates frequently with client and provides frequent update reports
Makes decisions based on an understanding of client program goals.
Excellent planning of multiple ongoing projects to meet expected timelines
General:

Highly creative and self-motivated leader to guide a small team of scientists to execute on sponsor project plans.
Maintains research notebooks in a well-organized manner. All necessary documentation is recorded.
Complies with all safety rules, practices good housekeeping, and maintains safe workplace without supervision.
Develops new methods or assays based on minimal information or protocols.
Makes logical suggestions of likely causes of problems and independently suggests solutions.
Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy of work.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage other scientist and associates.

Qualifications
Experience / Education

Minimum: PhD + 10 or MS degree + 12 or BS degree + 14 years experience in Proteomics, Mass Spectrometry, biophysics and/or plate-based assay development and biological sciences or related field

Expert knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within biological R&D laboratory setting

Computer skills: knowledge of internet research, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn instrument and data analysis software.
Good time management and multi-tasking skills in order to complete multiple projects within timelines.
Ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage changes in direction
Ability to work in a team environment
Records experimental procedures and results in notebook
Regularly reviews goals and objectives with supervisor
Demonstrates competence in relevant technical aspects of scientific discipline which allows for increasing level of independence
Demonstrates attention to details and concern for impact
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / Chemicals (List specific Chemicals)
Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facilityMust be able to wear appropriate PPE
Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time
Ability to Lift 10 lbs. routinely
Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
