JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for administrating and coordinating all of the plant safety and training programs; organize and maintain all required documentation, investigate safety incidents, uphold and promote safe work rules, procedures and practices throughout the facility; improve plant safety results; ensures compliance with environmental and government safety regulations and industry standards and addresses any unsafe acts and conditions as required. Supports the environmental management system (ISO-14001). Responsible for wastewater sampling and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Achieve Safety vision through management commitment and employee involvement.
- Improve on and assist in developing and maintaining a safety training program and related environmental information and communication, including an annual training schedule for all regulatory and plant specific training; by being responsible for the analysis of the effectiveness of these programs.
- Understands local, state and federal occupational health, environmental and safety regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
- Ensure training is conducted as needed, including safety orientation for new hires, transferred employees and temporary staff.
- Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans under the general OSHA standard. These may include, as needed:
- Hazard Communication Program
- Exposure Control Program (Bloodborne Pathogens)
- Hazard Assessment and Personal Protective Equipment Program (PPE)
- Respiratory Protection Program
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Emergency Action Plan
- General Duties Clause (SEC.5A1)
- Ability to train and certify powered industrial trucks.
- Reports to the HR Director on matters affecting the safety program.
- Develop and maintain a written inspection and auditing program for the facility (as developed through plant walk-through inspection). Ensure that identified action items are completed and those actions are implemented effectively.
- Facilitate, with insurance providers, monitoring programs such as, but not limited to, heat stress, air and noise surveys.
- Maintains all health and safety records on employees and temporary workers including terminated staff.
- Responsible for maintaining hard copy and digital current and obsolete SDS files and associated manuals.
- Lead the development of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying and evaluating hazards.
- Responsible for leading the investigation of all accidents; compile and submit incident reports as required by Company reporting requirements; ensure effective incident follow-up investigations, including post incident re-training.
- Ensure all supervisory personnel are trained in safety procedures and assists supervisors in making accident investigations when necessary.
- Monitors company program for reporting and investigating "near-miss" situations.
- Establish, monitor and maintain company BSFA safety program as directed by Japan i.e. 3S, KYT, RA and Safety Rules. Assures all employees are trained in internal 3S procedures, KYT, safety rules and risk assessment.
- Conduct investigations into employee safety inquires, suggestions and complaints.
- Maintain inventory and control distribution of safety supplies. Conduct monthly fire extinguisher, eye wash station checks and safety audits.
- Maintain safety library. Promote safety awareness through internal company memorandum, newsletters and specific training programs. Writing and distributing reports and other correspondence; and by performing other administrative duties as needed. Secures, posts, and maintains appropriate safety educational materials on employee bulletin board.
- Assures that appropriate persons are trained in first aid and CPR and emergency numbers and first responder postings are updated.
- Assist HR Director and VP of Ball Production with the development of short and long-term safety and environmental management system (ISO-14001) goals including objectives, targets, strategies, auditing and record keeping.
- Assist in all regulatory and compliance inspections. Maintains all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements including reporting requirements.
- Travel for environmental waste site audits and document review to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental standards.
- Completes safety and environmental reports as required by BSPJ.
- Completes weekly and monthly wastewater sampling which includes PH and flow checks. Maintains weekly and monthly records and reports. Provides City of Covington information as required.
- Utilize development plans to grow safety and environmental skills and knowledge.
- Responsible for assisting in other various safety and environmental activities and assignments as needed.
