The Scientist within our Cardiovascular and Metabolism Discovery Research Discovery group (CVM) will join a highly collaborative biology team to support an industry-leading pipeline of novel mechanism small molecules and biologic agents to address unmet need in CVM diseases, such as chronic diabetic kidney diseases and other related diseases. The Scientist will play key roles in target identification and validation, and will contribute to the development of drug discovery projects, and demonstrate the ability to independently design, shape, implement novel experiments. The Scientist will ensure delivery of completed study results and data interpretation in support of key program milestones, and help drive the team's strategic direction. The Scientist will follow best practices for Data Integrity and company standard operating procedures in a timely fashion, such as training and project time accounting. The candidate will bring an enthusiastic discovery mentality to the Biology team.
Key Responsibilities:
The Scientist will be effective in the independent execution and troubleshooting of lab experiments related to in vitro stimulations, models and new assay development, and should be able to take scientific initiatives and lead research projects. Primary focuses will be target identification and validation, profiling and characterization of novel therapeutics, and disease understanding. The Scientist will work in a collaborative environment where ideas can be respectfully challenged to drive excellence and innovation. The Scientist will pro-actively investigate, improve, change or adapt existing methods and techniques.
Qualifications
- PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, or closely related field is required.
- At least 2 years working experience as a postdoctoral researcher or in the biotech/ pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
- Research experience in renal biology, kidney diseases, or related areas such as inflammation/fibrosis or metabolic complications, is required.
- Experience with cell culture and assay development is required. Examples may include Western blotting, ELISA, qPCR, MSD, etc.
- Experience with small molecule or antibody drug discovery is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, dynamic entrepreneurial attitude, and creative problem-solving skills are required.
- This role will be based in Boston, MA (located in the Longwood Medical Area) and may require up to 5% travel.
