MacKay Sposito is seeking a project based Environmental Field Inspector / Specialist to join our team. This is an entry level position, which performs physical construction site observation, documentation, and inspection of projects which are predominantly electrical substation, transmission, and distribution to assess and ensure compliance with applicable project plans, specifications, and regulations. You must be comfortable with navigating and understanding project specifications and blueprints/drawings. This position also requires routine communication of project information to clients, regulatory agencies, peers, and managers. Project sites for this role will vary and will require travel ~ 70% of the time throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

Duties:

Conduct onsite Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections.
Conduct onsite inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Installation of erosion and sediment controls per the site plans.
Identify areas of potential erosion and provide recommendations for remediation.
Assess potential issues pertaining to regulated environmental resources and provide Best Management Practices to reduce impacts, as appropriate.
Work in utility corridors with steep, forested, and rocky terrain. Assess and note sensitive features (which may include wetlands, waterways, or biological/plant species)
Support environmental plan development, SWPPP writing and environmental proposal efforts.
Assist, coordinate and review environmental technical work performed by internal and external (i.e., subconsultants) team members
This position will require travel (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana)

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in physical, geology, or environmental science, or similar related field or 5+ years in equivalent field experience.
3+ years of experience working in construction or environmental compliance.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, construction personnel, regulators, and clients.
Strong technical and problem solving skills.
Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to see the big picture.
Strong computer skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets
A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs
Must be able to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist and work in the outdoors on uneven surfaces routinely. Typical work day may include exposure to weather extremes and rough or uneven terrain.
Current driver's license and good driving record required. Ability to be insured to drive company vehicles required.
Certified Erosion Sediment Control Lead (WA CESCL) or Oregon Department of Transportation Erosion Control Certification (Preferred)
HAZWOPER 40-hr Certification (Preferred)
