Primary Purpose:
This program will give students the opportunity to receive hands-on training in the fields of agriculture, food science, forestry and land management.

Reports to: Principal

Salary:

Teacher Salary Schedule
220 days - $42,263 - $58,676
240 days - $46,105 - $64,010

Length of Contract:
2021 - 2022 School Year - 220 days
2022 - 2023 going forward - 240 days

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education, or a closely related field. Arkansas Teacher Licensure Required

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide classroom instruction for agriculture curriculum.
• Stay abreast of current trends in the field of agriculture and expose students to different career pathways as a guide to achieving necessary skills for continued education and employment.
• Provide students with educational and equitable experiences leading to career preparation, continued education, and employment.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies for integrating academic and Agriculture Science and Technology education.
• Assist in the design of facilities related to agriculture education.
• Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy.
• Serve as advisor for the FFA chapter.
• Accompany and supervise students at all off-campus activities including contests, workshops, and field trips associated with the agricultural science program and/or FFA.
• Supervise the school laboratory (animal science facility, greenhouse, shop, etc.) used for students supervised agricultural experience.
• Facilitate community involvement in the agriculture program.
• Assume a responsible role in public and professional relations by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural and other community organizations.
• Inform the public of events and awards related to the program.
• Continue professional growth by holding membership in professional organizations.
• Attend and participate in district and area professional development meetings that are designed to provide professional skills and information.
• Oversee maintenance of program related facilities and equipment.
• Develop and administer budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.

• Knowledge of the school district and community preferred.
• Highly motivated to build an Agriculture Program from the ground up.
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Creativity to create and communicate the vision of the agriculture program.

Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours

Physical Demands:
Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting motion: Frequent walking; repetitive hand motions; must be able to reach overhead, manually operate standard agricultural equipment, frequent lift heavy objects (45 pounds and over); may lift and move agriculture equipment and animals, work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold, and inclement weather), humidity, and prolonged sunlight; exposure to biological hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on uneven or slippery surfaces; work around animals; may work alone; frequent district wide and statewide travel
