Abt is seeking a PhD-level graduate student summer intern to assist with our natural resource damage assessment (NRDA) and other environmental science work in the Division of Health and Environment.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide technical, analytical, and research support on a variety of projects.
- Process and analyze data
- Summarize field-collected or observational datasets related to our environmental research practice
- Perform quality assurance and quality control checks on technical data, reports, analytical output, and spatial data products.
- Conduct literature reviews, including gathering, evaluating and disseminating published literature and reports.
- Assist with the development of technical reports and manuscripts
Preferred Skills / Prerequisites
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas: NRDA, environmental assessment, contaminant fate and transport, environmental chemistry and toxicology, and/or fate and effects modeling. Preferred experience includes:
- 1-2 years' experience in environmental science-related research and familiarity with complex data analysis
- Experience in toxicology, chemistry, biology and/or ecological restoration
- Working knowledge of the NRDA process
- Experience with programming languages or data analysis packages such as R, SASS, Python, SPSS, ARC/GIS, or Tableau
- Excellent writing and quantitative skills
Minimum Qualifications
- MA/MS or BA/BS in Environmental Science, Geosciences, Biology, Toxicology, or a related field
- Acceptance into a PhD program
- 2 years of experience in environmental research, natural science research, and/or complex data analysis OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
