Responsibilities:Provide key leadership within an award-winning health system. Drive initiatives to help ensure the health and safety of UCLA Health patients, families, employees, visitors and more. In this important role, you will coordinate and oversee a variety of critical safety programs, including radiation safety, fire/life safety, chemical safety, hazardous materials management, occupational safety, and more within Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, the Mattel Children's Hospital, the Stewart and Linda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, and all outpatient and administrative/business facilities. Success in this role requires close collaboration with other Environmental Health and Safety leaders on campus.
You will also oversee all licensing and permitting requirements related to hazardous materials, waste generation, emissions, and other areas within our Environment of Care operations. In addition, you will work with our Workers Compensation management group to take proactive steps to limit employee injuries, control costs, and administer the Be Smart About Safety program provided by the UC Office of the President.

Qualifications:We're seeking a dedicated and compassionate leader with:
Bachelor's degree - advanced degree preferred
Five or more years of combined experience in management and with healthcare-focused environmental health and safety programs
HAZWOPER certification
CHSP, CHCM, CHFSP, CHMM, CIH, or CSHM certifications desired
Ability to build and maintain a climate of trust while inspiring commitment from others
Proven track record developing effective hospital safety programs
Expertise in all aspects of Environment of Care management, accreditation standards, knowledge of codes, and other environmental requirements
In-depth knowledge of Joint Commission, CA Title 22/24, OSHPD, and CalOSHA
Exceptional supervisory skills, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and work flow organization
Understanding of the management of operational/capital budgets
Leadership style that consistently enhances understanding, respect, cooperation and problem solving
Ability to drive as well as adapt to change
Deep understanding of process improvement approaches and methods
