*Position Description:*This is a high-skill grant-funded postdoctoral research position for a PhD-level individual to study the mechanisms of prostate cancer bone metastases, tumor dormancy, and drug resistance in culture and in animal models.
*Qualifications:**Education/experience/licensing:*
• Ph.D. in cancer biology or related field.
• Hands-on experience with cell and molecular biology.
• Practical familiarity with standard tissue culture, animal studies, molecular techniques and instrumentation utilized in a cancer biology research laboratory.
• Ability to write manuscripts for publication
• Ability and willingness to write a grant for an individual postdoctoral fellowship.
*Communication and other skills*:
• Ability to lead one and multiple research projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English).
• Ability to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary research team.
• Ability to perform experiments with initiative and independence, under general guidance from the PI.
*Working Conditions:*Works in a research laboratory environment. Must be familiar with chemical hygiene and biosafetyprocedures, and willing to accept training in such procedures. Work may involve some exposure to andhandling of research animals (mice), potentially biohazardous substances (recombinant DNA, retro andlentiviruses, ATCC human cell lines), and potentially hazardous chemicals (organic solvents, cancerchemotherapeutic drugs). The irregular nature of the timing of research projects may require some eveningand weekend hours to complete experiments, write manuscripts, and grant application. Travelling to andpresenting in scientific conferences of the field is also required at least once per year.
