PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Lab Analytical Assistant, in West Sacramento, CA.

Purpose:
  • The primary purpose is to assist on tasks related to insect bioassay data management within Pest Control Research.
  • This will include data management of insect bioassay results and procurement of research materials.
  • To a lesser extent, limited simple wet bench tasks may be assigned to support laboratory operations.
Key Working Relation:
  • This position works mainly with internal stakeholders at Pest Control Biologics.
Key Tasks:
  • Collect, collate and record insect bioassay results in a timely and standardized manner using computer word/excel processing programs, database system and electronic notebook. This may include registration of test samples and assays in formalized database systems may be included.
  • Ability to perform data visualizations and simple data quality control checks using statistical tools (example, excel, JMP, SAS, or R) is desirable.
  • Communicate and deliver written internal reports to supervisors for review and approval, ensuring speedy decision-makings.
  • Procuring research materials to support laboratory operations. This comprised of insect eggs, diet plates, and other research materials.
  • To a lesser extent, support some wet bench tasks related to laboratory operations, for example insect diet preparation, plate labelling, insect infestations, etc.
  • Adhere to Bayer and laboratory safety policies, best practices and compliance.

Qualification & Competencies:
  • A Bachelor Science degree in entomology, biology or zoology, with some relevant experience, OR
  • A non-degreed, with 5 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent proficiency in using computer word and spreadsheet processing programs to manage data.
  • Proactive in learning, with excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written format.
  • Ability to work independently on given tasks, as well as a team player with peers and supervisors.
  • Experience with electronic notebook, statistic software tools or enterprise lab information management systems would be added value.
  • Good understanding of scientific principles, preferably in the field of entomology, biology, zoology or environmental sciences would be added value.
