Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Scientist, Computational Biology to be part of a team focused on capsid and genome engineering in the Genomic Medicine Unit. The successful candidate will play a central role in building computational approaches for treatment of rare and immuno-oncological diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the computational pipeline for novel AAV capsid engineering to support gene therapy and gene editing at Sanofi
- Develop platform to design next-generation promoters to advance existing and emerging indication pipeline
- Develop platforms to investigate methodologies for safer delivery of AAV capsids
- Transversally collaborate with other platforms and research groups in the GMU, and across Sanofi to deliver on GMU and global research priorities
- Responsible for applying scientific expertise and judgement to initiate, design and execute experiments in a time sensitive manner.
- Acts as an impactful contributor of project teams and transverse initiatives.
- Provides mentoring to peers and junior scientists in the team
- Fosters creativity, productivity, execution with a sense of urgency, scientific integrity and accountability. Maintains a collaborative culture.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD plus minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting
- Extensive prior experience involving computational biology required, including:
- Payload engineering for viral delivery
- Engineering optimized promoter/regulatory elements for tissue subtypes
- Deep expertise on bioinformatic methodology including RNAseq, ATACseq, snRNAseq
- Experienced, results-oriented, with a track record of significant contribution to research projects and peer-reviewed publications
- Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, interpret and present experimental results.
- Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast paced industry and work environment.
- Experience in preparing high quality documents including technical reports, presentations, SOPs, experimental protocols and regulatory filings.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
