Job Summary:

NanoStringTechnologies islooking for an outstanding scientist to join ourTranslational ScienceTeamto support our new Spatial Molecular Imaging platform. Usingcutting edge technology fromNanoString,youwill applyyourunderstanding of biology to design and execute experimentstocapture the spatial proteome and transcriptome ofto uncover novel insights related tocell biology, developmental biology, cancer biology, neuroscience, and immuno-oncology.You will then communicate the results in presentations and reportswhich will lead to generation of posters, white papers, and peer reviewed publications.The work will be highlyinterdisciplinary,and you will be engaging withcell biologists, biochemists, computational biologists, and engineers. Projects willsupportbothour internal R&D groupandexternalinvestigators.

A successful candidate must be passionate aboutwet-labdriven experimentations to find innovative solutions to development hurdles.Deep understanding in diverse biology fields such as cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, and developmental biology is preferred.Youshould be comfortable analyzingbiology at the cellular and molecular level and discussinghow this relates to health and disease. You are a good wet-lab scientist who can take an idea and quickly design an experiment that allows you to gain a better understanding of the biology.Youcancommunicate your ideas and work effectively with an interdisciplinary team and incorporate their feedback into your experimental design. You are a strategic thinker, highly motivated,proactive,and flexible in changing direction and methods. You thrive in afast-pacedenvironment, excel at managing multiple priorities, communicate clearly and get the job done.

Essential Functions:

Design and perform experiments to address specific questions in a timelymanner
Draw biological findings from large datasets
Sample preparation,library generationand data analysisfor spatial RNA-seq
Workon problems involving complex biological systems athigh-resolution
Prepare summary report for peer-reviewed publications you have authored / co-authored / contributed to
Able towork in a fast-paced and quickly changingenvironment
Ableto communicate complex ideas with an interdisciplinaryteam
Ableto work independentlyand as part of ateam
Take initiatives to conceive, design and carry-out hypothesis driven feasibility experiments to drive the development of the chemistry as well as inform the design of the hardware/software.
Drive wet-bench experimentation,subsequent data analysis/interpretation activities, and generate summaryreports
Work interactively with biophysicists, nucleic-acid chemists, fluorescence imaging specialists, and hardware/software engineers

Requirements:

Ph.D. inimmunology,immune-oncology,cancer-biology,neurobiology,cellbiology, or related field.
3~4years of industrial and/or post-doctoral work experience
Strong background in an applied biological science and single cell assays are required.
Experience with RNA and DNA sample preparation, genomics, and a wide variety of nucleic acid protocols
Strong wet bench and assay development skills
Experience withfluorescent microscopyand assays involving tissue preparations, especially FFPE (formalin fixed paraffin embedded) tissue.
Evidence of peer-reviewed publications you have authored / co-authored / contributed to
Strong understanding both theoretical and practical aspects of the experimental design
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional Qualifications include:

Bioinformatics and/or wet-lab experience in single-cell RNA-seq or spatial RNA-seq assay
Experience with protein detection methodologies, proteomics, multiplexed protein assays and handling antibodies
Experience with fluorescence-based detection technologies including single moleculedetection
Experience with scripting and automation of laboratory equipment / microscopes for new assay workflow development
Experience with client management skills
