Job Purpose:Maintains safety of airport personnel and customers by patrolling the facility; enforcing rules and regulations; conducting airfield checks; monitoring lighting and runway pavement conditions; responding to emergency situations.Duties: * Enforces federal, state, and local laws, codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations by patrolling the airport; identifying and citing violators. * Supports airport flight screening operations by providing law enforcement protection; conducting premise checks and building searches. * Ensures safety of the airfield by conducting inspections of runways, taxiways, and ramp areas. * Ensures aircraft safety by preventing wildlife interference on the airfield; regulating airfield vehicle traffic; enforcing vehicle ordinances. * Maintains leased property adherence to airport policies and regulations by monitoring leased airport property for contract violations; recommending appropriate actions. * Responds to calls for service and reports of crimes in progress by intervening, resoling situation, or calling for emergency medical or police services. * Responds to crash/fire/rescue emergencies by operating a variety of firefighting and crash rescue equipment; conducting runway standby's for aircraft arriving with any variety of potentially dangerous emergencies; dealing with hazardous materials releases and fuel spills. * Provides general assistance to the public by responding to and resolving inquiries. * Documents incidents and prepares reports by conducting preliminary investigations to determine whether a crime has been committed; determining whether further action is warranted; documenting crash/fire/rescue efforts. * Maintains safety operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes. * Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. * Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. * Enhances airport reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Skills/Qualifications:Safety Management, Initiative, Integrity and Trust, Attendance, Dependability, Technical Understanding, Analyzing Information , Problem Solving, Verbal Communication, Informing Others, Surveillance Skills
