What you'll do on a typical day:
  • Work with the Environmental Team to set and measure job objectives; provide strategic oversight and direction to XPO's positioning in environmental compliance, dangerous goods (DG) and sustainability
  • Support initiatives related to the environmental impact of operations and corporate social responsibility including overseeing the organization's sustainability strategy
  • Provide leadership, expertise and support to drive comprehensive environmental, DG and sustainability initiatives and programs that will assist operations in attaining compliance with applicable regulations
  • Provide supervision, coaching, mentoring and performance management to maintain a high-performance Environmental Team
  • Attend weekly operational review meetings and report on upcoming initiatives and environmental performance
  • Provide support to new and existing sites on environmental, sustainability, DG-related issues and projects for implementation or upcoming changes
  • Communicate regularly with executive management team including Operations, Legal and Solutions regarding metrics, environmental costs, risks of activities, potential or actual violations, audit results and action plan execution
  • Collaborate with functional leaders and sustainability stakeholders to move towards industry-leading environmental performance


What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 7 years of progressively responsible experience implementing environmental compliance programs
  • Proficiency in supply chain fundamentals; forecast modeling, inventory modeling, orders and supply management

It'd be great if you also have:
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental chemistry, environmental health, environmental engineering, environmental science or related field
  • 10 years of managerial experience in environmental role
  • 10 years of implementing environmental compliance programs
