About the role:
The Senior Microbiologist role is responsible for being a technical leader within the Microbiology Department, including responsibilities for leading projects, mentoring team members, having high capabilities for technical writing and applying strong knowledge of microbiological techniques to guide product development.

What you will do:
Apply knowledge of microbiological techniques to evaluate the efficacy of germicides and infection control systems for high level disinfection as well as sterilization Maintain clear and appropriate experimental test records and notebook studiesExecute testing as prescribed by protocols and standard operating procedures Ensure testing is conducted per regulatory standards and guidances including AAMI, AOAC, ASTM, FDA, EPA, and ISO Analyze and summarize data for cross-functional reviewAuthor detailed experimental protocols and reports, standard operating procedures and other controlled documented as directed Assist with other laboratory projects or responsibilities as neededIdentify and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities and initiativesDevelop and validate laboratory test methodsOversee product evaluation studies, review data, ensure study timelines and quality standards are metRepresent microbiology department as technical lead in cross-functional projectsProvide technical knowledge of regulatory standards as well as microbiological practices to cross-functional partnersAssist with development and mentorship of other team membersProvide technical support to sales/marketing teams, respond to customer/field questions Manage root cause investigations or CAPAs as directedCollaborate with other subject matter experts to author technical white papers

What we are looking for:
BS/BA in Biology or Microbiology with 8+ years of relevant laboratory experienceMasters degree Biology, Microbiology with 5+ years of relevant laboratory experienceAbility to work in a diverse team environment. Demonstrated ability to work towards a timeline.Proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Ability to work well with others in a team environment Preferred Qualifications:5+ years working in a regulated microbiology laboratory environment Experience with medical device product testing such as bioburden, simulated use, antimicrobial assay, suspension testsPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
