Qualifications

Required Qualifications (must be mentioned on application and/or resume): Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences and one year of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience to equal five years.

Candidates must have experience working in a research laboratory environment.

About the Job

40% Research and data analysis: Individual will conduct complex, multi-step laboratory procedures using animal models of cancer to support a fast paced lab based on written protocols or oral instruction using molecular biological, immunological, mouse modeling and cell and molecular techniques.

Individual will be expected to select and adapt methods to meet specific research needs and to assist in development of new laboratory techniques. Individual must be able to learn and employ a wide variety of experimental techniques including but not limited to T cell proliferation assays, PCR, electrophoresis, tissue culture, transformation, cloning, transduction and establishing new primary cancer cell lines.

Individual will maintain multiple mouse breeding colonies. Research with animals will involved multiday-long experiments as well as daily health checks during experiments. In addition, animals must be handled under bio-hazard conditions to fulfill research goals.

Individual is expected to maintain a detailed notebook, tabulate and graph data, and interpret results on all procedures.

Individual will be expected to read relevant scientific literature as suggested by the investigation and to identify relevant facts, techniques, and procedures from the primary literature.

60% Laboratory Management: Individual will be responsible for the oversight, operation and maintenance of equipment, developing and implementing protocols, data management and analysis, creation and maintenance of lab strain archives, ensuring lab safety, ordering, and assistance in the preparation of data for meetings, manuscripts and grants. Individual will confer with other laboratory personnel in drafting work schedules and plans for execution of complex laboratory studies. Individual will train new laboratory personnel and provide technical support and guidance.

Individual will work with PI to maintain laboratory regulatory compliance.

Individual will support PI laboratory and scientific management responsibilities.
