WSP is currently initiating a search for a Mid-Level ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST for our Roosevelt, Utah office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with environmental site investigation and remediation projects

  • Collect soil, groundwater, indoor air, and waste samples

  • Conduct regulatory compliance inspections (stormwater and SPCC)

  • Evaluate and interpret data

  • Assist with preparing project plans and technical reports

  • Perform environmental due diligence research to support property transactions

  • Provide general environmental compliance support to clients, as needed

  • Prepare site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs)

  • Implement safe work practices in the field in accordance with the HASP

  • Represent WSP to client's and subcontractors in a professional manner

  • Conducting wetland and stream delineations in multiple states and completing associated state and federal permitting.

  • Conducting/assisting wildlife and habitat surveys for threatened, endangered, or rare species in support of ESA and other environmental regulations.

  • Preparing technical documents including biological assessments, monitoring compliance reports, wetland delineations reports, and NEPA documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with scientists, planners, engineers, surveyors, etc. on multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments. Frequent overnight travel to project sites and meetings is required.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 minimum years of experience with wetland delineation required

  • Experience in natural resource management and regulatory compliance for public and private clients.

  • Local candidates preferred

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer Master's degree in biology, ecology, wildlife management, environmental studies or related studies and/or their equivalent preferred, or bachelor's degree with comparable experience.

  • Previous experience with private / government agency in environmental discipline.

  • Environmental certifications demonstrating skills/experience a plus (PWS, CE, CWB).

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to navigate all types terrain in various weather conditions.

  • Knowledgeable with ArcGIS and GPS units desirable.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
