Professor David Parichy in the Department of Biology is seeking a Senior Scientist to manage an NIH funded research program focused on skin and scale development in the zebrafish. The applicant will be responsible for strategic decision making related to hypothesis testing and experimental design, and will have primary responsibility for data acquisition, evaluation of results, and preparation of presentations. He or she will also be responsible for managing and training any additional personnel who may work on this project, and will be expected to assist in routine managerial/training and other tasks required for laboratory functioning.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology or related field and at least 6 years experience working with the zebrafish system. Additional requirements include: experience generating and isolating mutants and transgenic lines in zebrafish; expertise with time-lapse imaging and laser confocal microscopy; experience generating and analyzing single cell RNA-sequencing data; track record of writing research grants and submitting proposals; experience in comparative developmental biology. Prior experience studying zebrafish skin or scale development highly desirable.
