The Field Research Biologist- Fungicide/Nematicide coordinates and implements a crop disease and nematode control field-testing program for early discovery through late stage development synthetic chemistry and biologicals. As part of their program, they are tasked with launch and product support trials for commercial assets as needed. The Field Biologist is responsible for a broad range of activities including protocol development, trial planning and execution, as well as timely data summary and synthesis for sharing with Global Biology stakeholders. As part of the Field Station Team, the Field Research Biologist also provides support for on-site operations and collaborates with team members to ensure all FMC sustainability and safety standards are met. The Field Research Biologist reports to the Sparks Research Station Manager within the Global Development Biology organization.

• Conduct high quality in-house field tests for plant disease and nematode control using synthetic chemicals and biologicals to assess efficacy and crop safety for discovery candidates and commercialization projects
• Serve as the subject matter expert for plant disease and nematode control at the field research station and provide support to the Global R&D organization about regionally specific diseases/nematodes/ and crops
• Collect field research data and enter it into the corporate database in a timely manner; they are responsible for the data quality for all trials they lead.
• Summarize and communicate results with recommendations for commercial use to collaborators and provide timely feedback to the Global organization for strategic decision making
• Facilitate strong working relationship with Global R&D, Regional Product Development, and Technical Service organizations
• Ensure that all activities meet local, state, and Federal regulations and laws, including safe storage, shipping, handling, and application of EPA-approved and experimental agricultural products
• Work closely with local Technical Service and Regional Marketing Managers to build strong relationships with key university research specialists and other industry influencers that strengthen FMC's relationship with the local agriculture community.
• Maintain strong technical knowledge of new chemistries, commercial products, and other technology impacting FMC's business and market position
• Help identify and recruit potential new employees for research and development, sales, technical service, and product development positions
• Help train and mentor new employees
• Work with Field Station Manager to ensure all projects and testing is adequately planned and the budgets are adhered to
• Work with the Field Station Team and the broader organization to expand testing capabilities and increase assay development to support global organization and corporate initiatives
• Provide support as needed to the Field Station to ensure the facilities are in working order and all operations meet the standards set forth by the Corporate and Global R&D organization

• MS in Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or other agricultural/related science or equivalent experience with 2+ years of related work experience
• PhD preferred

• 2+ years of experience in discovery, development and commercialization of agricultural products
• Working knowledge of disease management and appropriate field-testing procedures with a high level of technical competency
• Preference given to individuals with experience in nematode control and nematicides
• Knowledge of agricultural cropping systems, pests, management practices, and products
• Experience in field plot technique and statistical analysis of data
