Job Description
Become part of cutting edge and highly innovative Chemical Biology and Quantitative Biosciences departments. Using robust scientific methodology, novel translational models, and state-of-the-art instrumentation and automation, we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough. To achieve our goal, we have added new capability enhancements for higher-resolution interrogation of novel biology and the molecular mechanism of action of molecules that help advance the best drug candidates into the clinic.
Target discovery is critical to the success of drug discovery. We are therefore seeking an innovative cell biologist to join the Chemical Biology group at our company's Research Laboratories in Boston/Cambridge to help us in this endeavor.
- Become part of a creative and flexible team; collaborate, manage and work closely with other scientists. Contribute to project strategy, experimental design, analysis, and interpretation of experiments
- Collaborate with Oncology, Metabolic Disease, Neuroscience and Infectious Disease discovery teams to develop and execute on phenotypic screening strategy
- Have a proven track record across cell biology and imaging projects
- Have a good understanding of biological concepts and phenotypic screening workflows
- Possess strong analytical skills
- Function and communicate effectively in a highly productive multi-disciplinary environment
Preferred Experience and Skills
- A background in cell-based assay development and familiarity with imaging-based approaches to interrogate compound effects on phenotypes of interest is required
- The successful candidate will be able to design cell-based experiments using genetic and pharmacological manipulation of pathways and proteins in relevant cell systems to validate novel targets and characterize molecular mode of action of tool molecules
- A track record of achievement in independently designing and executing experiments is required
- Preference will be given to candidates with a background in chemical biology, or experience in 3D cellular culture or automation of cellular assays
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication (oral and written) skills
- Highly self-motivated and capable of prioritizing deliverables among multiple simultaneous projects
- Ability to build strong relationships within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams to effectively drive early drug discovery initiatives
Qualifications/Education
- Ph. D. in Biology or related field or M.S. with 3+ years of experience or B.S. with 5+ years of working experience in a pharma, biotech or academic setting
