Seeking an environmental operations coordinator, based out of Bridgeport, West Virginia. This position will be responsible for coordination of waste management, hazardous material management, air quality compliance, water quality compliance, spill & pollution prevention programs, and construction compliance. The candidate will work alongside staff, contractors, and EH&S specialists. This is a fulltime position and the candidate must be available for 24/7 on-call support, for assigned locations. The position will be within the West Virginia regional footprint and may include limited travel. Candidate will be responsible for coordination of assigned locations and managing operational compliance and occasional assistance with construction compliance activities.

Tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

Waste Management Coordination:
  • Source separation, handling, analytical, profiling and characterization.
  • Containment, labeling and storage.
  • Creating manifests, signing manifests and oversight.
  • Knowledge of GHS, DOT, and EPA regulations.
  • Knowledge of TSCA and US export, a plus.

Hazardous Material Management:
  • Completion of EPCRA notifications and annual reports.
  • Conduct auditing and coordination of emergency planning.
  • Ability to train and educate staff.
  • Knowledge of Title III SARA, Tier I & II EPCRA.

Air Quality Compliance:
  • Completion of air monitoring and inspections.
  • Oversight of operations and training.
  • Implementation of programs reducing hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) emission.
  • Knowledge of Title V Clean Air Act and MACT.

NPDES Compliance:
  • Implementation and oversight of NPDES permits.
  • Conduct inspections & audits of facilities.
  • Implementation of pollution prevention training programs.
  • Manage facility pollution prevention plans (SPCC, SWPPP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Clean Water Act and NPDES program.

Candidate must be familiar with and have working knowledge of Federal, state, and local regulations. Candidate must possess risk analysis skills capable of: risk and hazard assessments, establishment and implementation of control methods, and ability to effectively respond to changing circumstances. The position also may require crossover assistance with construction management activities and implementation of operation compliance inspections. Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, facilitation and decision making skills are a must. Candidate must be a self-started and motivated individual.

Preferred requirements for position:
  • Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or other Natural Science fields.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience with operational and regulatory compliance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management or a supervisor role.
  • Knowledge of RCRA, SARA, DOT, TSCA and EPA regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, OSHA regulations.
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER certification or 30-hr Construction management certification.
  • DOT RCRA Hazardous Waste (Hazmat) Certification (a plus).
  • Additional beneficial certifications include: PE, CWMP, CHMM, HMS.
