McCormick Taylor is actively seeking an entry to mid-level Environmental Scientist for immediate employment for our Mt. Laurel, New Jersey office location. The candidate will be responsible for providing regulatory and permitting compliance for transportation (roadway, transit) projects for local, state, and federal clients primarily located in New Jersey, but also PA and Delaware. Knowledge of NEPA compliance and documentation, and experience with wetland field work and delineations preferred. Activities include, but are not limited to, environmental assessment studies for permitting, wetland/stream delineations, watershed assessments, water quality permitting, compliance monitoring, and preparation of Categorical Exclusion Documents (CEDs). Permitting experience is a plus.

  • Conduct delineations of Waters of the U.S. (including wetlands) in accordance with current regulatory requirements and guidelines, prepare supporting documentation, and conduct JDs.
  • Conduct stream, wetland, and wildlife habitat assessments.
  • Conduct Phase I Bog turtle studies.
  • Assist with environmental permitting processes and agency permit applications including but not limited to wetland/waterway permitting and the Endangered Species Act (federal and state).
  • Assist with compilation of various CEDs for multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Monitor and write reports for wetland mitigation projects.
  • Utilize GPS, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office for project data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • BS/MS degree in Environmental Sciences or related field
  • Previous experience with NJDOT projects preferred
  • 2+ years of technical and field experience preferred in wetland delineation and other natural resource surveys, environmental data collection, compliance monitoring and environmental permitting
  • Detail oriented and ability to work independently
  • Effective environmental writing and communication skills
