Responsibilities
Draper's Synthetic Biology group is seeking a molecular biologist with expertise in nucleic acid detection assay development, viral and bacterial pathogen research, and cell culture systems. The candidate must possess extensive experience with nucleic acid manipulation in particular, as well as hands-on assay development experience and strong troubleshooting skills. Experience with protein engineering and expression, and associated analysis techniques, is also desired. The candidate must have experience in working with BSL2-level pathogenic organisms, with BSL3 experience a plus. Cell culture experience is also a plus.

In addition to extensive hands-on technical experience with nucleic acid detection assays, the candidate will have the following additional desired attributes:

CRISPR-based assay development
Experience working with pathogen detection (viruses, bacteria, host biomarkers)
Experience with mammalian cell culture systems
The potential candidate must thrive in a multidisciplinary team comprising skills in microfluidics, microfabrication, instrumentation, mechanical and electrical engineering, and more.

Responsibilities:

Development of nucleic acid detection assays
Development of viral and bacterial pathogen diagnostics
Training colleagues on laboratory techniques
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Qualifications
MS or PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related discipline, and postdoctoral experience in a laboratory/R&D setting. Additionally, he/she will be a self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience in leading projects and working with collaborative teams on externally funded research programs is highly desired.
The candidate must have the ability to solve complex problems with minimal supervision, and be able to interface with all levels of internal management, as well as program sponsors and subcontractors.
