The Environment & Sustainability team's mission and passion is to advance global sustainability. As our global footprint continues to grow, we are looking for a Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join our team in Fairfax, VA!

As a Lab Technician, you will perform fungal spore enumeration and identification via microscopy and various microbial analyses of air, water, and bulk samples.

  • Carry out all duties in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017
  • Identification and enumeration of fungal spores utilizing light microscopy.
  • Microbial analysis of samples from multiple matrices.
  • Execute all standard operating procedures for the analysis of field samples.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on laboratory equipment.
  • Carry out daily/weekly laboratory housekeeping duties
  • Use necessary software to manage data generated from field samples.
  • Generate reports of sample results and forward to relevant parties.
  • Adhere to all established health and safety guidelines and safe laboratory practices.

  • Bachelor's degree in the sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc.)
  • At least 1-year experience working in a lab environment or applicable experience from education
  • Ability to work 1-2 Saturday's a month (1-2 hours, overtime)
  • Ability to perform Light Microscopy, Aseptic Techniques, and Basic Microbiology including incubation/culture methods
  • Technical and Mathematical Aptitude
  • Computer Literacy
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
