Job Summary:

The Environmental Engineer will assist in leading the Environmental Compliance efforts at our Logansport, IN facility. Through critical thinking skills and working knowledge of environmental best practices, this position will assure continuous improvement of environmental compliance and minimize the environmental risks of our operations.

  • Leads the permitting and reporting activities related to the facility's NPDES permit and other water permits.
  • Support Chemical release management and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the waste program, including any reporting requirements.
  • Sets up, tests, and operates assigned environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Performs assigned laboratory work including preparing samples, recording test results, and recording numerical and visual observations.
  • Conducts pollution surveys by analyzing material, air and stormwater samples.
  • Maintains records in project logs and electronic databases.
  • Schedules the removal and disposal of all waste materials in accordance with EPA regulations.
  • Monitors all site facilities and works with plant operations to assess and ensure environmental compliance with regulations.
  • Assists with the development of environmental/pollution remediation processes.
  • Audit waste and recycling processes and facilities to ensure responsible and compliant management of WSP waste.
  • Assists with updating all environmental programs, policies and procedures.
  • Develops and conducts training for all WSP visitors, contractors and employees.
  • Provides assistance and support to the Health, Safety and Security programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive applied knowledge of environmental engineering science.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of techniques, procedures, and equipment used to prevent and control environmental contamination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • General Chemistry knowledge
  • Ability to conduct training and presentations in from of audiences of various sizes.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Engineering or related field required.
  • 1-3 years of related industrial environmental compliance experience required.
  • Experience working with Air permit, RCRA, NPDES and other Environmental compliance program is a must.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse various types of terrain and climb ladders and stairs to collect air and groundwater samples.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods and long distances.
