Sirius is currently looking for a QA Microbiology Technician for a temporary contract position in Blair, NE.
JOB SUMMARYThe QA Sterility Control Technician is responsible for assisting the QA microbiologist in supporting the Blair plant regarding all plant sterility concerns, sterility testing, organism isolation and identification from incoming raw materials, fermentations, inoculum, equipment, and finial products.
REQUIREMENTS
Associates Degree: 2-year science OR lab degree OR 2 years of lab experience 2 Years of Lab Experience2 years of lab/sterility experience Knowledge of Aseptic technique and laboratory equipment.
Skills: Attention to detail. Ability to work in a team or independently as needed. Effective oral and written communication skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES(The major activities or end results necessary to fulfill the position requirements on an ongoing basis) Frequency % of time spent on each major activity · Monitoring the sterility of the plant fermentation process, raw materials, utility's and environment by using different microbiological methods/techniques · Isolation and identification of microorganisms.· Developing, setting up and run lab scale experiments to answer or proof certain questions or assumptions regarding sterility.· Collecting and putting together data´s from different systems (DCS, PI, QA results, observations, microbiological results, identifications, experimental generated. data´s…), making conclusions out of it and present it in meetings.· Updating sheets to track sterility in a sustainable way and write reports· Collecting sterile in process samples and assess them by using different microbiological methods/techniques.· Make decisions based on the available data´s, experience and process knowledge how to proceed with certain fermentation batches, if adjustments are necessary or if it even must be dumped - Be present in the control room to monitor the running batches.· Start investigations when contamination events occurring by using all available data.· Do inspections on different equipment's in the field to verify that they work proper and ensure a sterile operation (e.g. steam traps, conti sterilizer, follow sterilization cycles, stroke and pressure tests, temperature measurements).· Media / stock solution preparation.
