GENERAL SUMMARY:

Directs, monitors, and coordinates compliance with regulations that may impact MATHESON products including environmental, product safety, and other related global requirements and directives.

  • Directs development and implements applicable environmental compliance programs to ensure full compliance with corporate policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to MATHESON locations and products,
  • Evaluates and assesses new and existing products to ensure no unreasonable risk to customers or MATHESON employees.
  • Conducts periodic environmental performance evaluations at MATHESON locations and recommends corrective actions to location management.
  • Monitors the development of regulations affecting company products, inform management of potential impacts, and establishes programs for compliance with these regulations.
  • Completes customer surveys and questionnaires relating to various company products and global requirements. These requirements include but not limited to REACH, RoHS, and WEEE.
  • Monitors regulatory requirements for all imports and exports for the company as they relate to environmental reporting requirements.
  • Interfaces with regulatory development process directly and/or through various trade associations to effect reasonable health, safety and loss prevention laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates and participates in key negotiations with environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Integrates and disseminates corporate environmental bulletins, policies, programs and provides necessary assistance to regional locations.
  • Develops and implements programs to reduce environmental risks at each MATHESON location.


  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or related technical discipline is required. Applicant should possess a minimum of three years environmental management experience with industry or government, including a minimum of one to two years in plant operations, including process or manufacturing with a direct involvement in environmental related activities.

    OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

    • Office Environment with occasional exposure to adverse conditions
    • Travel - 60-75% of time
    • Must be willing and able to travel by air or vehicle to required locations
    • Familiar or previous experience with ISO 14001


    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Detailed knowledge of environmental regulations including waste, air, and water.
    • Familiar with the following: Stormwater/Clean Water Act, SPCC, RCRA, Clean Air Act, and TSCA.
    • Understanding of the REACH, RoHS, and WEEE directives.
    • Strong managerial skills with ability to interface with internal customers, external customers, and senior management
    • Display independent judgment and initiative
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Excellent presentation skills, both oral and written
    • Team player
    • Willing to work independently to finish tasks; small and large project management skills.
