We have an opening for a Lead Molecular Biologist (IV), Strain Development at our Corporate Research Center located in Decatur, IL!
Position Summary
The Cell Engineering group is recruiting a molecular biology subject matter expert! This role will be responsible for molecular cloning of genetic devices for bacteria, yeast, and fungi, as well as conduct molecular evaluation of engineered strains using advanced DNA/RNA technologies. This scientist will add to the teams core capabilities in synthetic biology and their work will support multiple strain engineering projects.
Job Responsibilities
Molecular cloning using ligation and ligation-free methods.
Design and build base vectors for non-standard industrial microorganisms.
Molecular validation of genetic toolkits (e.g., promoter libraries).
DNA and RNA evaluation, including RT-qPCR, digital PCR, and multiplex PCR.
DNA and RNA library preparation for genome sequencing and RNA-Seq.
Develop new DNA and RNA sequencing capabilities.
Molecular cloning subject matter expert within ADM Biotechnology.
Use commercial software for DNA design and analysis (e.g., Geneious, Benchling, DNASTAR).
Work collaboratively with Strain Development Project Leads.
Contribute to a positive, safe, inclusive, and compliant work environment.
Skills and Proficiencies
These skills and experiences will be required or useful for the candidate:
Ph.D. degree or equivalent and relevant experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, or related field.
5+ years of industry experience in molecular biology, DNA cloning, and analysis of DNA and RNA.
A track record of success using diverse molecular cloning techniques for microbial strain generation, with a deep understanding of DNA assembly technologies and applications.
Demonstrated experience with DNA and RNA analysis methods and data interpretation.
Experience with cloning and DNA analysis software.
Experience working within interdisciplinary teams.
