Job Responsibilities

The Jihye Yun laboratory is focused on elucidating the molecular and metabolic underpinnings of dietary influences on colorectal cancer (CRC) initiation and progression using human isogenic cell lines, ex vivo 3D intestinal organoid models, and genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs). In the short-term, we will investigate how dietary factors such as sugar and vitamin C can change the tumor and host metabolism, the intestinal microbiota and intestinal stem cells (ISC) which can affect the CRC development. In the long-term, this research group will continue to untangle the relationship between diet, genes, microbiome and cancer with an emphasis on discovering novel strategies to prevent and treat cancers.

We are interested in applicants from diverse research experience backgrounds, but are particularly interested in applicants with a PhD or MD/PhD in cancer and cell biology, immunology, metabolism and intestinal microbiology.

Candidates should be enthusiastic about collaborative and interdisciplinary research, be highly motivated to develop as an independent scientist, have a strong work-ethic and demonstrate excellent scientific and English communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or PhD in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with animal models and metabolism, immunology, especially mucosal immunity are strongly preferred.
  • Excellent publication records are critical.
